Brian at Yellowstone - Sept. 6, 2011

29 Days. 7,520 miles. 23 States. In the summer of 2011, we traveled across America on motorcycles. We started the long journey with a sport bike and a cruiser, but after a trade in in North Dakota, we finished on two sport bikes.

Swinging at a KOA in California - Sept. 10, 2011

We traveled for 29 days, camping most of the way at KOA Kampgrounds.  The journey began and ended in

Williamsport, MD and took us through a total of 23 states.  Shortly we’ll have a map up where you can see our journey in detail.

Anyone who says you’re crazy to go touring on a sport bike is hugely mistaken.  While it does take time for your body to get used to the riding position, once it does you’ll be glad you chose the bike you did.  The truth is traveling long distance on a motorcycle will have its painful moments; it doesn’t matter what bike you have.

If you’re looking to get more info on traveling the US or touring on a sportbike, please feel free to leave some comments or contact us.  We are more than happy to help out fellow adventurers.

You could call it the greatest backpacking trip through the US, an incredible graduation trip, or the most intense motorcycle ride, but to us it will always be the journey of a lifetime.

We hope to share our experience with you. At AmericaAndBack.com, you’ll find info on long distance motorcycle riding, sport bike riding, trip preparation, expectations, gear, and our journey.
